The Ambulatory Care Center Administrator role will be one of the most important roles in effectively manage the Ambulatory or Surgical Center. It is a position that plays a critical role in deciphering multiple tasks at the center. To date the role has been widely recognized as a profession, being seen as taking the lead – with other players such as medical staff, nursing staff and patients. This program will prepare student to get the job as Ambulatory care Center Administrator and empower them to achieve great success in workplace.

The program is designed to provide the foundational knowledge needed to effectively maintain clinical and administrative responsibility for operations of Ambulatory Care Services. Supervision is exercised over a large number of professional, technical and clerical personnel. Students learn how to apply their knowledge to effectively manage the Ambulatory Care Center.

The PLP in Drafting Legislation, Regulation, and Policy has been offered by the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies with considerable success since 2004.

Course structure and modules

Program involves understanding how Ambulatory Care Center functions to accomplish their policies, and procedures. Administrative responsibilities include compliance with all standards, regulations, quality assurance, scheduling staff and specialty clinics. Students are also introduced to medical services, nursing services, pharmaceutical services, counseling services, laboratory services and emergency services.

Upon completion of each course, participants will be able to:

Plans, provides, and documents professional care in ambulatory settings, in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures.

Collect and analyze patient data, make recommendations for ambulatory care plans, evaluate care provided, document and communicate appropriately actions taken and patient responses.

Delegates tasks and supervises the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers.

Assist other ambulatory care personnel in the delivery of patient care and serve as a team leader.

Monitors and initiates corrective action to maintain the environment of care, including equipment and material resources.

Participates in professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate assistance or educational offerings.

Supports the development of other staff and formal learners; participates in the identification of clinical, operational and safety related performance improvement opportunities.

Participates in clinic or entity level performance improvement activities.

Career opportunities

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical and health services managers (Ambulatory Care Administrator belong to same category) make a median pay of $88,580 a year. The BLS also estimates that by 2022, the number of management jobs will increase by more than 20 percent. Managers can work for one Ambulatory Care facility, or they can work at outpatient department of medical set-up. They are responsible for maintaining all the daily operations of that organization, including the scheduling of employees, ordering of equipment and supplies and budgeting throughout the year.
